Have This With You Always

The most useful asset of a person is not a head full of knowledge  but a heart full of love, with ears open to listen, and hand willing to help. When someone does something wrong, don't forget all the things they did right. No one can touch words but words do touch one's heart and soul. We are masters of our unspoken words and slaves of our spoken words. Speak only when your words are more beautiful than the silence. Before you say anything, think how you'll feel if someone said it to you. Treat people the way you want to be treated, talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Remember respect is earned not given. Show respect even to people who don't deserve it.

Privilege is one of the most overlooked realities of life. It often comes quietly, wrapped in comfort, and for that very reason, it dulls our awareness. Comfort has a way of shutting our senses making us less able to recognize, appreciate, or even notice the blessings we carry. Many of the things we now take for granted were once sources of worry, prayer, or effort. Yet once comfort arrives, our minds shift away from gratitude. Privilege exists regardless of our emotional state; whether we are happy or hurting, hopeful or bitter. Somehow, in every season, there is always a measure of advantage or ease present.
